Fawn Mckay

Fawn McCay, born in Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. Born into the Mormon Church's first family Fawn McKay was able to direct her innovative creative writing skills and impressive research skills to creating an amazing psycho-historical account of Joseph Smith, published in 1945 under the title The Only Man Knows My History. The title comes from the funeral sermon given by Joseph Smith, creator of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. His audience was shocked by his telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. There is no way to know my feelings." My life story isn't known to anyone. My history is not known by anyone. Fawn (29 years old) wrote that after her confessional moment, three-hundred writers have risen to the occasion. Many have abhorred him and others have glorified. A few have even made a diagnosis. The documents aren't there, it's the fact that they're contradictory. The process of assembling these documents, sorting through third- and first-hand sources, and integrating Mormons' tales of the past to other people's historical context - can be a challenge.
