Taylor Swift, the rarest pop phenomenon is a star who has managed to cross between the genres of country and mainstream pop culture and become an idol of the pop world. Swift also took on the entire globe in the process. Swift removed her roots in the country as though they were part of her skin to reveal that she was perhaps the savviest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, someone who was able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and also perform in the opposite direction. The skills she displayed could be seen in the first songs she released, most notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift discovered her true identity and gain an audience that was large. Fearless was a huge success not just in America with six singles were certified platinum in the wake of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and You Belong with Me. But it also performed well around all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later consolidated that achievement and propelled Swift into the stratosphere of superstardom. Swift's popularity continued to grow over her next three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) which saw her move into a realm of pop music that she had already been a part of. It was not long before she altered her plan in 2020's more streamlined siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
