In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs during the course of 6 months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought an interest to this genre but as well to Latin music as a whole. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish languages, while the year in 2016 there were four. In the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 19 songs mostly composed in Spanish made it to the top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 famous artists started to work with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna collaborated with Maluma for Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. In 2020, several Reggaeton artists were complaining about the direction of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to maintain the development. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other genres.
