Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Before she learned to read and write, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. Her first guitar purchase came at age 8 and began singing on a Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven. She recorded her first album within the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. In high school She made her mark locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. She relocated to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner required an additional singer around the time. Parton began her career in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their relationship with Wagoner, wrote"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and made it to No. This was the first time a song reached No.
