Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also a writer. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington has been the TV host, journalist writer, television philanthropist and author for more than ten years. She is also the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an openly-liberal newsmagazine online. Her birthplace was in Greece but moved to England in the year 16. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA at the level of economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected the president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. After graduation she made her name as a conservative syndicated columnist and when the publication of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created a voice-based website that included critical comments on the political scenario. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors who shared their perspectives on culture as well as politics. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent in a recall contest in California in order to take over the position of Governor Davis. Additionally, she was a leader of a Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. The project was named 12th on Forbes' ranking of the most influential women in media. The same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of that media division, which contained many existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. The couple was close to her father. It was the relationship she had with her mother that shaped her. From her childhood she showed the skills of leadership for which she is now well-known. When she was 16, she began studying with Cambridge, United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. She joined The Cambridge Union college debate society while in college in which she became the third and first female to serve as the president. In 1972she received her master's degree in Economics. She worked as a music critic television host, and as a columnist shortly after her graduation. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books with his guidance to edit.
