Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and owner of the independently free online news publication The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family when she was the age of 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The well-known debating club The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it before the age of 21. A conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she was able to be an influential voice for the Huffington Post. It was her celebrity that helped to attract several prominent contributors to share their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna was first noticed during 2003 when she volunteered in California's recall vote, to succeed Governor Davis. Alongside that, she was also the leader of an initiative in Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient vehicles. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most powerful female" in media and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. appointed her President of their media group in 2011 after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included additional AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that formed her character. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. At the age of 16 her family moved into her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the third and first female to serve as the president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. Her professional career as TV host and journalist began after she graduated. She appeared alongside Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his assistance.
