Amy Smart is an American former model and actress. Her modelling career began in Italy, where she was raised before being born in California. The beginning of her acting career came in 1996 when she starred in the TV film Her Costly Affair. The struggle she had to get an appearance on Starship Troopers, a film that featured mostly minor roles, was very intense. Amy struggled to make the switch from modeling to acting since model actors aren't generally considered to be actors of any kind. They are usually given smaller and unimportant parts. Amy did her best to get noticed and eventually she was offered bigger roles starting with The 70s, the movie Varsity Blues. After a while Amy stepped into bigger roles. She starred in the 2005 romance film Just Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Amy found her recognition after more than 10 years of trying. She then continued to appear in some of the biggest movies, including the Crank series with Jason Statham as well as Shameless with Jason Statham, in which she played a recognizable character.
